Man Made Space

How it works

You join a membership. The house comes with it.

Students, working professionals, founders, and digital nomads. Twin sharing, a kitchen you can use, a desk, and people in the same season of life. Member is $999 a person a month. Community is $1,249. Founder's Circle is $1,499.

In every membership

  • A furnished twin-sharing room, with a bed and a desk for you
  • A kitchen you can use, with cookware and a table for the house
  • Common rooms
  • Wifi, and the utilities that come with the house
  • Cleaning of the shared kitchen, baths, and floors
  • Members placed together on purpose
  • The open calendar: coffee, the house table, gatherings for everyone
  • A base in Austin for students, professionals, founders, and nomads

Community and the Circle keep this and add the network, the work blocks, and, at $1,499, the operator time. Details are on the membership page.

The three ways in

Member

$999per person / month

Your place in the house and the core of the community. Where you live is included.

Community

$1,249per person / month

The same place to live, with the network turned on: mixers, workshops, and introductions beyond your own house.

Founder's Circle

$1,499per person / month

The house, the network, and a working circle around what you are building. Small on purpose.

From a note to a first week

  1. 01

    Tell us the month

Who you are, when you want to start, and whether you want Member, Community, or the Circle. A neighborhood helps. A perfect plan is not required.

  2. 02

    We match the house

Schedule, how you work, how social you want the block to be. Students, professionals, founders, and nomads live in the same ecosystem, not in separate products.

  3. 03

    See it

Walk through in person, or on video if you are not in Austin yet. You should see the room, the kitchen, and where you would work.

  4. 04

    Start

The room is furnished. The kitchen is there. Someone in the house knows you are coming. Most people start within two weeks of a yes.

How the house runs

Twin sharing and a shared kitchen only work if the small rules are written down. The longer version is in Sharing a room, and a house.

Twin sharing

You share the room with one other member. Your bed, your desk, your storage. The pairing is part of joining, not a surprise after you arrive.

The kitchen is for cooking

Cookware and a table are in the house. Label what is yours. The communal shelf is communal. Everything else is not.

Work has a place

Calls happen at your desk or somewhere that is not on speaker at the table. The common rooms are for people, not a standing all-hands.

Quiet hours

10 at night to 8 in the morning in the shared rooms. Campus living runs later than Workday living or Longer-stay living. Tell us if mornings have to be quiet.

Guests

Overnight is fine with a note to the house. Someone who is there most nights is a member, and membership is per person.

The house stays a house

A dinner is the culture. A party that takes over the place needs a conversation first, and a no from someone you live with is a no.

If you are new to the US

No local credit file is a common way to arrive. We can look at a school letter, an employer letter, or savings, and we say which before you start. The room is furnished. The walk-through can be on video. Tell us the day you land.

The contract

Membership contracts are 6, 12, or 18 months, priced by the month. Nomads take one of those contracts, in the same houses.
